Hi Susan,

Gosh, you've been through so much. But yes, you did Thrive in 2025! Is that when you started your Substack too?

I'm so glad you're back to doing what you love using sculpture, faces and masks. Your work is beautiful.

I'm glad our paths crossed in 2025, and I look forward to getting to know you better and seeing more of your wonderful art.

May 2026 be kinder to us all. xo

Yes, Nancy, I did start my Substack in 2025. Thank you for appreciating my sculpture work that means a lot to me! I’m so glad we ‘met’ here on Substack and are getting to know each other.

Yes, please, may 2026 bring more kindness to everyone.

Hi Susan,

I am so sorry that the last few years have been so difficult. You have been through a lot, and the word "thrive" really suits you. You have thrived in spite of it all.

Ah, yes, surgery. Yes, it is traumatic to the body and mind, and PTSD is real. My last surgery was a mind-blowing trauma, and I do have PTSD. So I get it.

Allow yourself the time and space to heal and be patient with yourself.

I love your art. What you've created is beautiful. I had to chuckle at your high school snafu. I would totally do that, too!

Happy New Year, Susan! Hoping for the best for you.❤

Beth, I know you’ve been through a lot too. And I see you, too, have thrived in spite of it all. PTSD sucks and something doctors don’t talk about, so it’s important that we help each other see it and give each other support.

Time and space to heal, yes I need that…perhaps we all need that right now. But it’s hard to be patient with the process. Right?

Yes, I look back now at that day when the clay flew and cringe but I realize it lead me to re-learning later in life which lead to what I’m doing now. So sometimes bad things can lead to good.

Happy New Year to you, too, Beth! May we both thrive more this year. ❤️❤️

Yes, many doctors are dismissive, but PTSD is real. And it is absolutely difficult to be patient with the process. We are here for each other, and yes, we all need that time and space to heal.

I’d say they aren’t just dismissive, they don’t even bring it up. Perhaps they don’t believe in it or they don’t know how to deal with it or don’t want to. Just last week, a woman I know has been through a lot more than me, I felt needed to hear about PTSD. She looked confused, of course. But I told her, it’s real. I could see something in her eyes change as she took it in. I hope I helped her to find out more for herself.

Truth. Doctors never bring it up. I found out about mine through a psychotherapist.

Thanks for sharing. I love where you are going with your clay, your process of discovery!

Clay, like life, is one big discovery. Thank you for seeing my work and being here, I’m grateful. Happy New Year!
