By the way, is Gallacher a version of Gallagher, or vice versa? The G. In my name stands for Gallagher, the two-thirds of my ancestors that are/were Irish.

What an amazing connection! The Gallacher name is a version of Gallagher. Family lore is that the name/spelling was changed when my Grandparents immigrated from Scotland to America. The reason for the spelling change was to make it easier to pronounce correctly. Origin stories are that they were Irish but moved to Scotland during the potato famine.

These are beautiful creations from your heart and hands. I’ve somehow missed the stories of your big surgery though I will scroll back and find them. It must have been a struggle to contain all of the gratitude and fears of that experience…one can see its magnitude by the beauty of its expression in the clay. I’m so glad you are alive and being creative, Susan…your art is needed and appreciated.

Thank you so much for your lovely thoughts and appreciation of my new work. I didn’t see the connection between the art and surgery but now I do, thanks to your insight. Yes, it was a struggle and shock to find myself in that emergency situation. I’m so grateful to now be “very healthy” as my PCP put it. If you want to know more, see the post entitled, ‘Easily Dismissed’. I hope my art helps others as it has helped me.
